Timeline.

Integrated on-campus coursework exploring the multiple dimensions of climate change to prepare for research at the 20th Conference of the Parties (COP20) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in Lima, Peru. Interviewed representatives of national governments, civil society organizations, scientific institutions and environmental groups at COP20 in order to understand the perspectives of small island developing states on international climate change policy regarding oceans.

Developed lesson plans for K-12 classrooms and youth programs. Worked collaboratively with teachers and youth program coordinators to develop educational events.  Trained other staff members for education presentations.  Conducted monthly baseline analysis on the local river.  Performed laboratory testing for quality assurance verification for volunteer water quality monitoring organizations.  Researched and tested water quality monitoring techniques appropriate for volunteer use. Taught seminars on water quality and instructed volunteers on how to use the monitoring equipment. 

Alliance for Aquatic Resource Monitoring (ALLARM)

Worked full time with staff specialists to assist with various stages of conservation planning, surveying and carrying out resource conservation plans for farmers in Virginia. Worked extensively with ArcMap to create conservation plans and soil maps. Independently surveyed slopes of farm tracts in order to determine highly erodible land. Created environmental impact assessments for proposed land changes.  Worked with local farmers to create, implement, and check conservation plans.

Worked with a group of citizens concerned with the arrival of shale gas corporations around my hometown in rural Pennsylvania. Helped organize and facilitate group meetings. Held an educational booth every Saturday at the local farmers' market. Recruited water quality monitor volunteers for the future seminar held by the Alliance for Aquatic Resource Monitoring (ALLARM). Advertised the event and wrote articles in the local newspaper. Organized the list of volunteers and kept in contact with each one.
